Starting out as an actor, Bernard wrote and performed a one man show at The New End Theatre, Hampstead from which Channel4 commissioned a ten minute adult cartoon BINKY AND BOO. Bernard went on to become a winner of the North West Playwright Competition in 1992 with his first play TACTICS AFTER SEX and the following year won The London New Festival with his second play NORMALITY.
Has had four pilot comedy sitcoms optioned to various tv companies including the BBC. A television film THE CHAIRMAN’S REPORT was optioned to Essential Films in 1997. Bernard has been regularly writing for DOCTORS from 2003 to the present time. He has recently finished a full length film screenplay.
Bernard has also completed a children’s science fiction novel CASSIE KELLY ON THE RUN.
He has just been awarded an MA with distinction on his TV & Radio Scriptwriting Course from Salford University.
